June 2012 Update

ALOHA! Here is another update of what I have been up to! I am still living in Kailua-Kona, HI on the YWAM base here taking care of the Bond Family. However, I am going to be starting a Discipleship Training School in July called Voice for the Voiceless, which will teach me how to make videos, news stories, and documentaries to tell people’s stories. I will be here on base for three more months during what they call “lecture phase.” Lecture phase is very intense and focused training which includes morning speakers that will focus on healing, freedom, cultural honor, and other things. In the afternoon I have hands on training with my camera, learning how to take videos, photographs, and edit them. After that I have a work duty somewhere on base. I could do kitchen duty, yard work, wash dishes, garbage/recycling detail, etc... As you can see I will have FULL days!
After lecture phase, I will be going somewhere in the world to do outreach. This is where I get to put what I learned to work! As a team, we will pray about what our focus will be on. Usually, the focus is an injustice that is happening within that country and we bring it to light.  One recent example of what teams have done was “Dear Panama”, which is a short documentary featuring the negative affects that government policies in Panama have caused for adoptive parents and children. I am excited about being able to use media as a tool for bring an end to injustice, but also getting to tell people’s stories. I would be able to connect people to each other in unique ways. My hope in doing all of this is to be able to bring hope, inspiration, and information to people through news stories and documentaries. Without being informed of how one can help, any hope or inspiration created through the documentary will die out, leaving behind many forgotten people.
So, with all of this happening, I do have some needs. I definitely need prayer, because this is going to be quite the endeavor! I need prayer for perseverance, patience, humbleness, and open ears. I also am in need of financial support. My monthly bills are roughly $200/month and the school for right now is $3760.00 just for lecture phase. I need to have $800 as a down payment before July 5th. I have been doing my own fundraising here, which has brought in about $200 so far! I will be continuing to do fundraising throughout lecture phase to raise money for the outreach portion of school. If you would like to support me at all you can do so through paypal, check, or online at YWAM website. Feel free to contact me if you feel led to support me at Alicia.Pallesen@yahoo.com, 612.770.4919, or via facebook!
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE,
Alicia Pallesen/Turnock
